Fox News: Antifa Protestors Threaten Carlson
Fox News reported that protestors from left-wing militant group Antifa chanted outside of the home of Fox show host Tucker Carlson Wednesday night (Nov. 7) and posted threats on its web site.
"Each night you remind us that we are not safe. Tonight, we remind you that you are not safe either," the group posted, according to Fox, and chanted: "Racist scumbag, leave town."
The chant could be heard in a video posted on Fox's Web site.
Fox said that while Carlson was not home, his wife was, and that she locked herself into a pantry and called police. Carlson said the protestors "rang his doorbell, broke his oak door and one protester was apparently caught on security video mentioning a pipe bomb."
Executives at the network condemned the protest.
“The incident that took place at Tucker’s home last night was reprehensible," said Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott and President Jay Wallace, in a joint statement. "The violent threats and intimidation tactics toward him and his family are completely unacceptable. We as a nation have become far too intolerant of different points of view. Recent events across our country clearly highlight the need for a more civil, respectful, and inclusive national conversation. Those of us in he media and in politics bear a special obligation to all Americans, to find common ground.”
Committee to Protect Journalists advocacy director Courtney Radsch cited the Carlson protest Thursday (Nov. 8) in calling for President Trump to tone down his rhetoric, though his focus was on the White House revocation of CNN senior White House correspondent Jim Acosta's press pass. "In the current climate, we hope President Trump will stop insulting and denigrating reporters and media outlets,," said Radsch. "it's making journalists feel unsafe."
