Fox News Recruits Former CNBC Anchor Liz Claman

Fox Business Network recruited former top CNBC anchor Liz Claman, who will make her debut Thursday afternoon with a one-hour interview with Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffet.

Hiring Claman – a move that had been rumored for weeks – is a big score for FBN, which debuted on Monday.

The former CNBC Morning Call anchor is known for high-profile interviews with CEOs such as Buffet.

At FBN, Claman will co-anchor the network’s weekday business block from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

FBN announced shortly after 2 p.m. Thursday that it had hired Claman, cutting to a live shot with Claman at Buffet’s office in Omaha.

“I’m glad to be part of the family. I’m sure we’re not dysfunctional yet,” Claman told viewers.

Buffet will sit down with Claman for a live interview at 4 p.m.. “He has never done a live hour. There’s no script here. I haven’t told him what I’m going to ask,” Claman said.

FBN said Claman will co-host the 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. block Monday through Friday from its New York studio with David Asman, beginning Monday.

“We are thrilled to welcome Liz to FBN. She has a tremendous reputation in the marketplace for her ability to cover serious business and economic issues that impact everyday Americans,” Fox News executive vice president Kevin Magee said in Thursday’s announcement.

Claman had been expected to join FBN since she left CNBC in July, after nine years at the financial news channel.

Before joining CNBC in 1998, Claman worked as an anchor and reporter for NBC station WHDH-TV in Boston and ABC’s WEWS-TV in Cleveland.
