Fox News Takes Weekly Ratings Gold
NBCSN’s coverage of the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio had to settle for the bronze medal in the weekly primetime ratings race as Fox News continued its summer run as cable’s most watched network.
Fox News averaged 1.7 million viewers for the week of Aug. 8 to Aug. 14, topping second place Disney Channel’s 1.3 million viewers and NBCSN’s 1.2 million watchers, according to Nielsen.
USA Network, TBS, HGTV and History all finished in a fourth place tie with 1.1 million viewers, followed by MSNBC and ESPN, tied with 1 million viewers. Adult Swim rounded out the top 10 with an average of 897,000 viewers for the week.
Nickelodeon was the most watched network on a total day basis, averaging 1.2 million viewers. Fox News, Disney Channel, Adult Swim, Cartoon Network followed closely behind, according to Nielsen.
NBCSN was the top choice for viewers 18-49 in primetime, while Adult Swim topped the charts on a 24-hour basis in the demo. Starz’s drama series Power was the most watched original scripted series among adults 18-49 on cable for the fifth week in a row, according to Nielsen.
