Gemstar, Digeo Settle Suits
Making peace, Gemstar-TV Guide and Paul Allen’s Digeo, maker of the Moxi DVR, have settled their litigation and reached a multiyear patent license agreement, officials said Monday.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but both companies have each dismissed their lawsuits against each other as part of the patent deal.
Back in 2006, Gemstar-TV Guide filed a patent-infringement suit against Digeo after the two companies failed to reach a license agreement, and Digeo filed an anti-trust suit against Gemstar.
As part of the agreement announced Monday, Gemstar TV-Guide will provide Digeo with a patent license to cover Digeo’s currently deployed interactive program guides, as well as IPGs that Digeo plans to deploy with service providers and for use on consumer electronic and personal computer platforms.
Backed primarily by Allen's Vulcan, Inc., Digeo is based in Kirkland, Wash.
