GMC Presents America Sings VOD Fare To MSOs

Supporting its summer competition America Sings, GMC is proffering local video on demand content to cable operators.
The eight-week competition, hosted by Dancing With The Stars winner and 98 Degrees band member Drew Lachey, will feature more than 100 singing groups from across North America in a competition to win America's vote and collect $10,000. The reality show bows on June 22 at 9 p.m. (ET).
Each week, America Sings and Lachey will shine the spotlight on new videos submitted by singing groups ranging from a capella, barbershop, doo wop, flash mobs, gospel and more. The show's casting team goes behind the scenes to interview the singing groups about their inspiring stories.
GMC's viewers will determine which singing group will win the $10,000 prize. The singing groups with the most votes will be featured in the special season finale. Television audiences can cast their vote at www.watchgmctv.com/sing.
For its part, GMC is reaching out to cable operators in markets represented by singing groups on the show to offer local VOD content gleaned from its on-air presentations, as well as video extras not included in the America Sings national broadcast.
GMC will provide affiliates with taggable spots for tune-in and call-for-entries for future seasons of the series. Turn-key LVOD spots also are available.

"This is a real grass roots show, from the recruitment of the singing groups to our ability to provide localized content for affiliates," said Lisa Delligatti, GMC senior vice president, affiliate sales, in a statement. "Our ability to pull this all together stems from our long-time relationships with the local church communities as well as our strong ties to the music industry."
