HBO, Mosaic Cut Deal
Home Box Office's film unit has struck a multi-picture
distribution agreement with Mosaic Media Group, involving new urban filmmaking
talent.
A set of six features produced by Mosaic will be released via HBO, starting
in 2004, and appear later on the network.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Mosaic Media, which became the majority owner of Dick Clark Productions
earlier this year, is setting up the first film in the series.
Among the projects considered is a funk musical directed by Bryan Barber, a
music video veteran working with such artists as Queen Latifah and Run DMC.
'This is about finding new and fresh talent and giving them the opportunity
in an exceptional forum to present their work,' Mosaic president of production
Robert Guralnick said in a prepared statement.
