HBO Slates 2019 for ‘Game of Thrones’ Return

Game of Thrones fans will have to wait until 2019 to watch the fantasy series’ eighth and final season, HBO announced Thursday (Dec. 4).

Series creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will return as executive directors for the six-episode final season of the Emmy Award-winning series. The last episode of Game of Thrones’ seventh season, which aired in August, drew a series record 12 million viewers, according to Nielsen.

Also serving as directors for season eight of Game Of Thrones are Carolyn Strauss, Frank Doelger and Bernadette Caulfield; with Bryan Cogman, Guymon Casady, Vince Gerardis and George R.R. Martin serving as co-executive producers, according to HBO.
