High School Football Docuseries Returns For Another 'Ride' On Versus This Sunday
High school docuseries franchise The Ride will return for its junior year on Versus this Sunday.
Spotlighting the journey of two senior high school quarterbacks, The Ride: The Road to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, presented by American Family Insurance, is scheduled for a Nov. 13 kickoff at 3:30 p.m. (ET) on Versus, which will be rebranded as NBC Sports Network on Jan. 2.
Over the course of six, 30-minute installments, this year's Ride takes an in-depth look at the lives of Cyler Miles from J.K. Mullen High School in Denver and Chad Voytik from Cleveland High School in Cleveland, Tenn., as the seniors face the off-field trials as high-profile recruits preparing for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and the world of big-time college football. NBC will televise the U.S. Army All-American Bowl from San Antonio's Alamodome on Jan. 7 at 1 p.m.
Produced by Backfield Productions LLC, a partnership of Aurora Imaging Co. and All American Games, producers of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, new episodes of The Ride will debut in the 3:30 p.m. time slot on Sundays, with encores at 10:30 p.m. (PT) on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 1:30 a.m. (ET).
"The Ride has not only received critical acclaim from the media since its debut three years ago, but has struck a chord with fans nationwide, particularly in the 13-to-18 year-old demographic, as well as with their parents," said Kate McGuinness, executive producer of The Ride and a partner with All American Games, in a statement. "We have been thrilled with the tremendous support and excitement from our fans-across TV, the web and social media-and are ready to deliver what we believe is our most intense, dramatic and inspiring season yet."
Ranked as Rivals.com's No. 41 overall recruit and No.4 quarterback in the class of 2012, Miles has committed to play at the University of Washington.
Voytik is ranked as Rivals.com's No. 105 overall recruit and eighth-ranked signal-caller for the class of 2012. He has committed to play at the University of Pittsburgh.
