LARCHMONT, N.Y.-Consumers are expressing strong interest in digital cable, high-speed data services and television-based Internet access, according to study results released Thursday by Horowitz Associates Inc.
The firm said 29 percent of cable customers said they're likely or very likely to upgrade to digital cable. Of current PC households and those likely to soon add computers, 26 percent said they're likely or very likely to subscribe to a high-speed Internet service. And 25 percent said they're likely or very likely to access the Internet over their television. But cable MSOs are not the only providers that benefit from consumer interest in new technologies. Another 13 percent of those polled expressed interest in direct broadcast satellite, rather than digital cable. A total of 40 percent of former cable customers have switched to DBS.
