Hulu Ends 2017 with More Than 17 Million Subscribers
Hulu said it ended 2017 with more than 17 million total subscribers, a number that factors in customers who take its subscription VOD service as well as its newer live TV offering.
That total is up by 5 million subs, or 40%, from the 12 million SVOD-only subs that Hulu reported having in 2016. Hulu announced its latest numbers in tandem with this week’s CES in Las Vegas.

Hulu also announced that its total audience has surged past 54 million unique viewers, and that its VOD library ended 2017 with more than 75,000 episodes of TV across 1,700 titles.
The OTT video service also announced that ad revenues eclipsed $1 billion for the first time in 2017.
Among other stats, Hulu said the median age of its viewers is 31, with a median annual income of $92,000.
The top three dramas on Hulu in 2017, based on hours watched, were Law & Order: SVU, This is Us, and The Handmaid's Tale, and the top three comedies were South Park, Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers.
Hulu launched its live TV service, which remains in beta form, last May.
Hulu latest results come on the heels of 10 Emmy Awards, and two Golden Globes.

“2017 was a momentous year for Hulu,” Hulu CEO Randy Freer, said in a statement. “We took several major steps to become a 21st century direct-to-consumer media company, evolving into both an aggressive SVOD business and a formidable new live TV provider. The year ahead is going to be even bigger, as the company invests more in content – live, library and original – as well as technology and data to make Hulu the leading pay TV choice for consumers.”
