'Jersey Shore' Notches MTV's Best Demo Mark Since 'The Osbournes'
Now, Snooki, JWoww, Pauly D and The Situation and crew are keeping Nielsen company with The Osbournes.
MTV's Jersey Shore scored its fourth consecutive week of growth and series' high with total viewers on Sept. 2 and the network's best delivery with persons 12 to 34 in eight years.
The episode averaged 6.5 million watchers, according to Nielsen live + same-day data, easily topping the 5.8 million who watched on Aug. 26. Thursday night's installment notched a 6.5 mark against MTV's broad 12-34 demo, up from a 5.5 the prior week.
The Sept. 2 telecast was the network's best performance against that group since the May 7, 2002 episode of The Osbournes, which scored a 7.1 against the demo, according to MTV officials.
With its performance on Sept. 2, Jersey Shore ranked as the No. 1 telecast of the day among persons 12 to 34 across all television for the sixth consecutive week.
The Jersey Shore After Hours special at 11 p.m. that night was the No. 2 telecast of the day with gthe 12-to-34 set in all of TV with a 4.4 mark.
