Joss Stone Signs On for Showtime’s ‘The Tudors’
English songstress Joss Stone will join the cast of The Tudors when the series returns for its third season sometime in 2009, Showtime officials said Tuesday.
Stone, a three-time nominee and one-time Grammy winner, will play the role of Anne of Cleves, Henry VIII’s (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) fourth wife. She will appear in three episodes which are currently shooting in Dublin, Ireland, network officials said.
Stone’s three albums have sold more than 10 million copies and she’s recently dabbled a bit in acting, playing a small role in the 2006 fantasy film Eragon and making a one-episode appearance on the CW series Gossip Girl.
Both Rhys Meyers and the series have been nominated for Golden Globe Awards, and the series has won two Emmys for its costume design and main title theme music. The new season will pick up after Anne Boleyn’s beheading, detailing Henry’s doomed marriages to true love Jane Seymour and the German-born Anne of Cleves.
