Yvette Kanouff, the former president of SeaChange International who left last month after nearly 15 years, is joining Cablevision Systems as an executive vice president in the MSO's technology group, Multichannel News has learned.
Cablevision declined to comment. Kanouff, reached via email, also declined to comment.
According to industry sources, Kanouff will start at the Bethpage, N.Y.-based cable operator this week.
Kanouff will likely oversee Cablevision's consumer-facing software engineering projects, which to date have included its iPad app for live TV, sources said. She may also have a role in developing Cablevision's RS-DVR network-based digital video recorder service.
Kanouff apparently will report to Jim Blackley, Cablevision's executive vice president of corporate engineering and technology, who oversees the operator's engineering, technology, enterprise IT and e-media groups.
In February, Kanouff departed SeaChange, having risen through the ranks at the video-on-demand and advertising systems vendor. She started at SeaChange in 1997 and served in a variety of roles, including chief strategy officer and then president.
At Cablevision, several high-ranking executives have departed in recent months. Former chief operating officer Tom Rutledge resigned in December and is now CEO of Charter Communications. That came one month after president of cable operations John Bickham left.
Last week, Cablevision said executive vice president of marketing Jonathan Hargis will leave the cable company to pursue other opportunities.
Kanouff, well known in cable technology circles, was elected the first woman chair of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers in 2005.
Prior to SeaChange, Kanouff was director of interactive technologies for Time Warner Cable and worked as a signal-processing mathematician at Lockheed Martin. She is a member of Multichannel News' Wonder Women class of 2001.
