Lifetime has ordered a seventh season of Army Wives from ABC Studios.
The 13-episode campaign will bow in 2013, said officials at the women's-targeted service.
During its sixth season that concluded on Sept. 9, Army Wives, which follows the struggles and dreams of a diverse group of women and one man living with their spouses and families on an active military base, averaged 3.2 million viewers and was the top ad-supported cable series in its time slot, according to Nielsen data.
“Army Wives is a very special program," said Rob Sharenow, executive vice president, programming of Lifetime Networks, in announcing the renewal. "It’s rare to find a series that connects with viewers and resonates so powerfully after six straight seasons, and we couldn’t be prouder to have it return to Lifetime next year.”
Based on the book Army Wives: The Unwritten Code of Military Marriage by Tanya Biank, who serves as a consultant, the sixth season starred Kim Delaney, Sally Pressman, Brian McNamara, Sterling Brown, Wendy Davis, Drew Fuller, Terry Serpico, Kelli Williams and Catherine Bell, and also featured Kellie Martin, Alyssa Diaz and JJ Soria.
