DirecTV announced the availability of its Total Choice Mobile package with local channels.
Using KVH Industries’ TracVision A7 mobile-satellite-TV system, subscribers to the service can now receive local broadcast channels in their vehicles anywhere within the continental United States.
The direct-broadcast satellite provider said local-channel availability may vary by market.
Total Choice Mobile, which offers more than 185 channels, is available for $44.99 per month, DirecTV added.
“We are delighted to be able to offer local-broadcast programming on a DMA basis and to extend the connection that viewers have to their local broadcaster to the mobile consumer,” DirecTV vice president of sales development and strategy Daren Benzi said in a prepared statement.
“With consumers' growing demand to watch news and entertainment services whenever and wherever they want, the in-vehicle market has come to represent the next frontier in live digital multichannel entertainment,” he added.
