Logo Picks Up ‘The L Word’
The L Word has landed on Logo.
The MTV Networks service, targeting the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities, has picked up the first five seasons of Showtime’s sapphic show.
Logo is scheduled to begin airing the series, which tracks the romantic, family and professional lives of a coterie of lesbians in Los Angeles, next summer.
Deal terms for the 62 episodes, which were acquired from CBS Domestic Television, were not disclosed.
The sixth season of the show, which premiered on Showtime in 2004 and stars Jennifer Beals, Leisha Hailey, Laurel Holloman, Mia Kirshner, Katherine Moennig, Pam Grier, Rachel Shelly and Daniela Sea, is set to debut on the premium network in January.
The show will benefit from significant online components at Logo’s AfterEllen.com
the leading site for lesbian entertainment, which for years has offered L Word reviews, commentary and show synopsis, following installment premieres. AfterEllen.com, home to weekly online series She Made Me Watch This!, is part of Logo’s federation of Web sites that in August landed for the first time at the top spot of LGBT online segment, according to network officials.
