Mayweather-McGregor PPV Buys Fall Short Of Record
Showtime and UFC’s Aug. 26 Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor pay-per-view event drew 4.3 million buys, falling just short of the all time industry record, Showtime confirmed Thursday.

The fight, which pitted undefeated former boxing champion Mayweather against UFC MMA champion McGregor, finished second behind the 4.6 million buys garnered by the May 2015 Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight, but dwarfs the 2.48 million buys garnered by the May 2007 Oscar De La Hoya-Mayweather fight, which in now in third place.
The Mayweather-McGregor buy count includes purchases from traditional television distribution as well as buys from online portals from Showtime and the UFC, said Showtime.
