Mediacom Communications said it has launched DOCSIS 3.1 and 1 Gbps (downstream) broadband service to parts of Delaware, Maryland and Michigan.
That expansion covers 27 more communities, including 19 in Delaware’s Sussex County, and others in southeastern Maryland and southwestern Michigan.
Mediacom upgraded its HFC network to D3.1 last year, and has been launching service with the technology in various parts of its footprint, including portions of Missouri, Kansas, northern Indiana; Illinois; Georgia; Minnesota; Huntsville, Ala.; southern Tennessee, and Iowa, and, of recent note, to its Gulf Coast markets.

Mediacom said it now offers 1-Gig service to more than 1,250 communities, with the latest round factored in. It’s also rolling out a new 500 Mbps tier in its new 1-Gig markets.
Mediacom has been selling a 1-Gig (downstream) service, paired with upstream speeds up to 50 Mbps, at $139.99 per month as a standalone, with a “promotional package offers” that will arrive at a later date. Mediacom’s DOCSIS 3.1-based 1-Gig offering comes with a monthly data limit of 6 terabytes before overage charges are applied ($10 for each additional bucket of 50 GB of usage).
