Prepping for its pending union with Vivendi Universal Entertainment, NBC is realigning its operations.
Bob Wright, vice chairman of General Electric Co. and chairman and CEO of NBC, on Monday said that NBC Entertainment president Jeff Zucker is now president, Entertainment, News and Cable Group.
In this newly created position, Zucker will continue to oversee NBC Entertainment and Bravo, as well as Telemundo's primetime programming.
He is also assuming oversight responsibility for NBC News and its cable channels MSNBC and CNBC.
Neil Shapiro, NBC News boss, now reports to Zucker, according to a spokesman.
Meanwhile, Randy Falco, group president of the NBC Television Network, will assume responsibility for the Telemundo Network, one of NBC's key growth platforms, as well as cable channel Mun 2.
This responsibility comes in addition to Falco's current role leading the company's commercial, operational, and business-development organizations.
Jay Ireland, president of NBC's Television Stations Division, will assume responsibility for the 15 owned-and-operated Telemundo stations, in addition to his current role leading the 14 NBC owned-and-operated stations.
Wright recently stated that he expects the $14 billion deal for Vivendi Universal to close sometime in the second quarter of 2004.
