Nielsen Media Research is delaying the launch of its controversial “Local People Meters” in Detroit, Dallas and Atlanta, officials said Friday.
LPMs will now officially launch in Detroit and Dallas in January and in Atlanta in July. Previously, they were to have rolled out in Detroit and Dallas in November and next May in Atlanta.
The postponement will give clients in those DMAs a three-month preliminary period to compare LPM data to set-meter/dairy data before the markets go solely to LPMs.
