On the heels of its phenomenally successful The Osbournes series, MTV: Music Television will debut six new original series
during the 2002-03 season.
The series feature a mix of reality and artist-profile shows, as well as a
tongue-in-cheek forensic detective show.
'With this new slate of programming, we're working with artists to create an
even deeper connection with our audience and, in certain cases, even including
fans in the creative process,' MTV president of entertainment Brian Graden said
in a prepared statement.
'At its core, this new roster of shows is essentially about music and
reflecting what life is like for many young adults today,' he added.
The roster of new shows includes mtvTreatment, which allows viewers to
write up video treatments for rock group Korn's new song; artistLaunch,
an hour-long show that documents the making of an album from today's biggest
artists; FM Nation, which follows the Saturday-night adventures of three
teen groups; and Crashing with, where recording artists hang out at the
house of an unsuspecting family.
Also slated for late-fourth-quarter-2002 or early first-quarter-2003 debuts
are Made, which documents the internal and external transformation of one
person who desperately wants a life change; and Suspect: True Crime
Stories, in
which a team of forensic experts uncover such lowbrow crimes as the missing food
from the refrigerator, the network said.
