MTV: Music Television announced Wednesday that it has picked up Making the
Band II for a second season, with 10 new episodes to premiere in spring
2003.
"Last season, we made television history by showing the real-life trials and
tribulations of a group of kids trying to land a record deal," Sean "P. Diddy"
Combs said. "MTV and I put the 'reality' back into `reality TV.'"
The show will begin production in New York this month and will capture all of
the drama between the new band members -- Sara Stokes, Rodney "Chopper" Hill,
Dylan John, Lloyd Mathis, Frederick Watson and Lynese Wiley -- as they live
together, sign their first record deal and work under Combs' guidance to develop
the group, record their first album and prepare for their debut performance.
Viewers will once again be privy to all of the behind-the-scenes decisions,
challenges and rigorous work that are part of making a band.
"The drama in the cast members' lives during season one of Making the Band
II was just as compelling as the finalists' competition and drive to make
the group," MTV executive vice president, series development and animation John
Miller said in a release.
"We anticipate that the intrigue will continue this season as these six
dynamic group members are put to the challenge of forming a cohesive group and
taking their music to the next level," Miller added.
MTV will produce the show in conjunction with Bad Boy Entertainment. Combs
and Ted Iredell will serve as executive producers.
