MTV Taps Nina Diaz To Head Unscripted Programming
MTV Tuesday named Nina Diaz as its new head of unscripted programming, a day after announcing the departure of its former programming head Michael Klein.
Diaz, who currently serves as executive vice president and head of reality programming at VH1 will now assume the role of head of unscripted for MTV and VH1, according to Chris McCarthy, president of MTV, Vh1 and Logo.
Since joining VH1 in 2014 Diaz has spearheaded such hits as the Love and Hip Hop franchise as well as more recently Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party. Diaz also previously worked at Bravo and MTV.
The appointment comes a day after MTV announced the departure of its executive vice president of original content Michael Klein, eight months after his hire.
“Nina has made a career of developing big, bold series that cut through and emerge as cultural touchstones, from Martha & Snoop to Cribs to the most successful seasons of Love & Hip Hop," said McCarthy in a statement. “I couldn’t ask for a better partner, and I’m thrilled she’ll be taking on this expanded role and building on her incredible legacy at MTV and VH1.”
