NAMIC Picks Execs for Training
The National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications announced the 2004-05 class of its Executive Leadership Development Program -- 31 representatives from MSOs and programming providers who will spend 10 days at the UCLA Anderson Graduate School of Management.
Intensive personal- and professional-development sessions in the program are designed to help them advance to executive-level positions within the cable industry.
"ELDP prepares people of color for leadership positions in the cable and telecommunications industry, with a unique emphasis on leading in increasingly diverse work and market environments," Manish Jha, president-elect of NAMIC and senior vice president of ESPN Mobile, said in a prepared statement.
"It is our goal with ELDP to ensure that the cable industry has a solid pipeline of diverse professionals who are able, through their leadership, to meet the needs of our audiences," Jha added.
The curriculum addresses the challenges that managers and executives of color face and is focused on cultivating business-acumen skills such as negotiation, trust-building, team leadership and performance management.
It is completed in four two-and-a-half-day sessions, held in October and November 2004 and February and April 2005, and it was developed for NAMIC by Anderson's Office of Executive Education Programs.
