The National Basketball Association is putting video of its upcoming All-Star Weekend into play, teaming up with Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. to offer clips of the annual event on “PlayStation Portable” devices and providing content on Google Inc.’s Google Video Store (video.google.com).
Dubbed "NBA All-Star Weekend to Go," the content package will be available for download free-of-charge at NBA.com (www.nba.com) for display on the PSP and other portable media player devices. It will include video highlights of the NBA All-Star Game, NBA All-Star Saturday Night and the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge.
Viewers will also have access to a final highlights package after the weekend event.
In addition, fans will be able to pay $3.95 to download full broadcasts of the All-Star Game and events through the Google Video Store.
Google recently partnered with the NBA to launch the online content outlet, allowing fans to buy video of NBA games online 24 hours after the fact. Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant's 81-point performance Jan. 22 is among the most popular video items on the Google service.
Meanwhile, Turner Network Television -- home of the cable-TV All-Star broadcast -- will offer behind-the-scenes access to the weekend event via the TNT OverTime channel on NBA.com.
