NBCU Rolls New Apple TV Apps
NBCUniversal said it has launched four apps – for NBC, USA Now, NBC Sports Live Extra and CNBC – for the new Apple TV, which hit stores today.
The apps feature a blend of on-demand content as well as live programming from NBC Sports Live Extra and CNBC for consumers who have the requisite TV Everywhere credentials from their pay TV providers.
“The launch of NBC, USA Now, NBC Sports Live Extra and CNBC on the all-new Apple TV underlines our commitment to provide exceptional content to loyal fans who want access to their favorite shows anytime and anywhere,” said Alison Moore, GM and EVP, TV Everywhere, NBCUniversal, in a statement. “The TV landscape is expanding to incorporate a new viewing experience and we are excited to extend our TV Everywhere platforms to reach new audiences and drive further engagement with these networks.”
By app, here’s a sampling of what’s on offer:
-NBC: Full episodes of the new fall shows day-after-air, including Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris, Blindspot, Heroes Reborn, Truth Be Told, and The Player. Users with TVE rights can also stream full episodes of returning shows, including The Voice, The Blacklist, Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Grimm. NBC's app also offers full episodes and clips of NBC Late Night programing.
-USA Now: Full seasons, current episodes and select episodes of several USA Network shows, including Mr. Robot, Suits, and Chrisley Knows Best, and the ability to catch up on shows such as Playing House, Royal Pains and Satisfaction, Burn Notice, White Collar and Psych.
-NBC Sports Live Extra: Access to more than 3,000 live events a year, including exclusive coverage of the 2016 Rio Olympics, Sunday Night Football and live NHL games, including the Stanley Cup Playoffs and Final, all 2015-2016 Premier League games, NASCAR Sprint Cup races and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase, PGA Tour, French Open Tennis, the Triple Crown horse racing, and originals such as The Dan Patrick Show and Men In Blazers.

CNBC: The live feed, plus complete on demand access to Mad Money w/Jim Cramer, and primetime programs such as The Profit, American Greed and Jay Leno’s Garage.
Streaming content from the above will also continue to be available on the previous-generation Apple TV.
Update: On November 2, the programmer announced that it has also launched an NBC News app (pictured) for the new Apple TV, offering live streaming news feeds (includine access to live press conferences, election coverage and breaking news), segments and interviews from Today, NBC Nightly News and Meet the Press broadcasts, and digital originals, such as Nightly Films and Today's Shortcuts.
