The National Cable Television
Cooperative is searching for a replacement
for CEO Jeff Abbas following his resignation
last week.
Abbas, who joined the NCTC in 2003
from Adelphia Communications as senior
vice president of business development,
was named CEO of the buying co-operative
in 2005. Tom Gleason, New Wave
Communications executive vice president
and a former NCTC chairman, will serve as
interim CEO.
NCTC chairman and Atlantic Broadband
chief operating officer Ed Holleran
said the organization expects to hire a
search firm shortly. He said he would like
to select a CEO before the Independent
Show, July 24 to 27 in San Francisco.
“We would certainly want it by then;
hopefully we will be a little in front of
that,” Holleran said.

biggest periods of growth — the co-op represented
about 14 million subscribers w
But that growth spurt also created some
schisms — some smaller operators over
the years had felt that they weren’t getting
the full benefit of the added scale because
the bigger players were not required
to participate in all deals.
