Netflix Secures SVOD Rights To ‘Greenleaf’
Netflix has acquired the streaming rights to OWN drama series Greenleaf, the OTT service said Thursday.
Netflix will stream the first season of the series, which featured Oprah Winfrey in a recurring role, beginning March 3 as part of an agreement between Netflix and series producer Lionsgate.
OWN will launch the sophomore season of the series, which follows the exploits of a family-owned megachurch, on March 15. The show’s June 21 premiere drew a OWN record 3.0 million viewers.Greenleaf also stars Lynn Whitfield, Merle Dandridge and Keith David.
