NeuLion, the live and on-demand video streaming specialist, said it’s teaming with MediaPro to deliver a live 4K stream of the April 2 La Liga matchup between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, a fixture between rival clubs that's also known as “El Clasico.”
The game, set for Saturday at Camp Nou Stadium in Barcelona, will be available over-the-top via NeuLion’s Digital Platform to Sony 4K HDR Ultra HDs that have integrated the vendor’s 4K Streaming SDK.
The live event, produced by Mediapro and Overon, is being streamed in advance of the launch of a new Overon 4K app that will be made available for select 4K devices in the coming months, they said.
“Streaming the ‘Classico’ soccer match live in 4K for the first time, is a new milestone, in a series of firsts that NeuLion has achieved, as we lead the momentum in the end-to-end delivery of live 4K sports to internet connected devices," said Dr. Kanaan Jemili, CEO of NeuLion, in a statement. NeuLion has been involved in four live 4K events in the last year, the last being with Univision and Sony for the February 10 friendly between Mexico’s National Team and Senegal at Marlins Park Stadium in Miami.
