NFL Network Kicks Off 100 Hours of Super Bowl XLVI Coverage
Flanking U.S. professional sports' biggest stage, NFL Network is televising more than 100 hours, including 60 live, in providing an expansive lead-in to Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis.
The roster for pro football league's in-house network extends to 30 on-air personalities, who will provide analysis, reports and news about the Feb. 5 championship matchup between the New England Patriots and New York Giants.
Live telecasts of original shows such as NFL Total Access at the Super Bowl, Super Bowl Live, NFL GameDay Morning, NFL GameDay Final and The Coaches Show will originate from Indy, as will on-location editions of No Huddle, Playbook and The Rich Eisen Podcast.
"Our fans want more football coverage, analysis and information during Super Bowl week," said Mark Quenzel, NFL Network senior vice president for production and programming. "Each year, we raise the bar with our coverage of the biggest event of the year. We have more Super Bowl rings than ever before, more live Super Bowl shows than ever before and more than 100 hours of programming, including a new Super Bowl Saturday Night Special. We will deliver everything the fans want leading up to when the Giants and Patriots take the field for Super Bowl XLVI."
Among the highlights is exclusive live coverage of Super Bowl Media Day on Jan. 31 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., as the Giants and Pats engage with the press. Host Eisen is joined by Marshall Faulk and Warren Sapp at the desk, while Deion Sanders and Lindsay Soto roam the scene, providing interviews with players and coaches. Between the Giants and Patriots media sessions, host Scott Hanson and analysts Willie McGinest and Jay Glazer offer further analysis and reflect on their own experiences participating in Media Day.
Viewers can also gain access to NFL-related press conferences: the AFC & NFC head coach press conferences on Feb.3; the Madonna Super Bowl halftime entertainment press conference on Feb. 2 at 2 p.m.; the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year press conference on Feb. 3 at 9 a.m.; the Don Shula Coach of the Year press conference on Feb. 3 at 9:15 a.m.; and commissioner Roger Goodell's Super Bowl press conference on Feb. 3 at 11:30 p.m.
NFL Network will also present full-game encores of the Giants' 17-14 victory over the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII on Jan. 31 at 8 p.m. and the teams' Week 9 meeting this season on Feb. 1 at 8 p.m. Additionally, on Feb. 3, NFL Network re-airs the NFL Films-produced documentaries Brady 6 at 8 p.m. and both parts of the critically acclaimed Bill Belichick: A Football Life an hour later.
Once again, the network is the forum to find out about who will be making a visit to Canton, Ohio this summer, with the exclusive Pro Football Hall of Fame Announcement Show on Feb. 4 at 5:30 p.m.
When the Big Game finally arrives on Feb. 5, NFL Network will be more than prepared with a live 8.5-hour NFL GameDay Morning pregame, kicking off at 9 a.m. from Lucas Oil Stadium and the pregame tailgate at NFL Experience. The longest pregame show on television also includes live reports from both team hotels and Super Bowl Village.
