Nick Adds Sunday 'Tween' Block

Nickelodeon next month will launch a Sunday-night programming block,
'TEENick,' aimed at the 'tween' audience, or youths age nine through 14,
officials said Tuesday.

The two-and-a-half-hour block will kick off March 4, offering live-action and
animated shows such as Taina, Caitlin's Way and As Told by
Ginger
,as well as a weekly countdown of viewers' top music-video
picks.

TEENick, which will incorporate interactive elements, will also feature the
cable debut of Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, the sitcom that was the
cornerstone of ABC's now-canceled 'T.G.I.F.' block.

Nick's tween-oriented programming will air from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sundays.
Like Nick's kids' block Saturday nights, 'Snick,' TEENick will have its own
on-air graphics look.

'We created TEENick to give tween viewers a night of television all their
own, in the same way we branded Snick on Saturday nights for kids two through
11,' Nick general manager Cyma Zarghami said in a prepared statement.

Nick has been No. 1 with tweens for the past nine years, drawing more youths
nine through 14 during both its 'kids' day' schedule and on a 24-hour basis than
any other basic-cable network, according to Nielsen Media Research data cited by
Nick.

On a 24-hour basis, Nick was No. 1 with tweens with a 1.8 rating, or 330,000
tween viewers.
