Nickelodeon Shoots ‘Unfabulous’ Special
Nickelodeon said it’ll shoot a one-hour special called “The Best Trip Ever,” based on its half-hour series Unfabulous.
While the program runs just one hour, Nickelodeon called the project an “original television movie” in Monday’s announcement.
“The Best Trip Ever” stars Emma Roberts, who plays Addie Singer in Nick’s Unfabulous series. It is scheduled to premiere Sunday, Dec. 16, at 8 p.m.
“In the one-hour prime-time TV movie, unflappable Addie takes the reins in planning her school’s big eighth-grade trip with the hope that it will finally make her fabulous among the popular middle school clique. But her plan is complicated by a secret that threatens to ruin the trip and come between her and her two best friends,” Nickelodoen said.
In its third season, Unfabulous and Roberts were both nominated for Teen Choice Awards for Choice TV Breakout Show and Choice TV Break Performance, respectively. Unfabulous is one of the top series for tweens on cable TV, and ranks among the top 10 live-action programs for kids 6-11.
Daughter of actor Eric Roberts and niece of actress Julia Roberts, Roberts starred earlier this year as Nancy Drew in Warner Brothers Pictures’ adaptation of the best-selling novel Nancy Drew.
In 2006 Roberts starred opposite Joanna “JoJo” Levesque in Aquamarine, a feature film about two girls who discover and befriend a mermaid.
