National Geographic Channel's freshman series Doomsday Preppers generated uplifting ratings for the network in its Tuesday night finale.
The series, which follows people as they make preparations for the end of the world as we know it, averaged 861,000 viewers in its April 17 finale, including 541,000 adults 25 to 54 watchers, according to network officials.
Overall, the series averaged 958,000 viewers over its 11-episode run, making it the most watched series in Nat Geo history, according to network officials.
The network next Tuesday (April 24) will present a compilation episode of the show, which will return for its second season later this fall.
Doomsday Preppers served as a strong lead-in to the network's new series Amish: Out Of Order, which drew 940,000 viewers for its 10 p.m. premiere episode. The series, which follow individuals who have made their decision to leave the Amish community behind, posted a 45% viewership increase among adults 25-54 over the time period's average for the previous six weeks, the network said.
