No Harlem Nights for BET
Less than two years after Black Entertainment Television opened a studio in
Harlem, the network said it was shutting it down to take a larger -- and,
inevitably, less expensive -- space at Viacom Inc.'s CBS Broadcast Center.
BET used the studio to produce its music programming, including popular
request show 106 & Park.
At its opening, BET officials said the studio gave it the opportunity to get
closer to high-profile musical talent, while having a presence in Harlem, the
'cultural center' for African Americans.
