nsight Basic Subs Rise Again
IInsight Communications said that basic customers rose by 33,700 in 2008, a 5% gain and the second consecutive year of 5% or greater basic-subscriber growth.
Privately held Insight also noted that it had record-breaking customer growth in phone service -- adding 89,400 telephony subscribers -- and digital service -- up by 58,900 customers -- for the year.
"This year's results are all the more impressive coming as they do after a terrific 2007 and in the midst of a very challenging economic environment," Insight CEO and vice chairman Michael Willner said in a statement. "I am very proud of our team."
As of Dec. 31 insight reported 759,673 total customers in Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio.
"Over the last five years we have strived to build a sustainable growth capability that emphasizes both acquisition and retention," said Insight chief operating officer Dinni Jain in a statement. "Fourteen consecutive quarters of basic customer growth is tremendously satisfying and represents the momentum we will require to endure what we expect will be a challenging 2009 successfully."
