Broadband provider NuLink will move its local television production facilities to the Central Education Center, a charter school in Newnan, Ga., where NuLink is based as a partnership to provide students real-world training in video content development, script writing, production, editing, scheduling, and studio operations.
“NuLink has always been impressed by the CEC, and the students trained in teacher Kevin Pullen’s broadcast video classes,” Bruce Jones, a NuLink director and operations consultant, said in a release. “Students from the CEC are already interning at our local studio in work-based learning programs, including student-produced content on NuLink Channels 7 and 10. Our investment in the CEC will allow these students to work in a state of the art studio, using high definition production equipment, resulting in greater technical quality, and excellent local programming content for NuLink customers to watch.”
NuLink, a partnership between cable television industry veteran John Brooks and Halyard Capital, last year bought cable TV and Internet access assets from municipal power and water provider Newnan Utilities.
CEC opened as a publicly funded charter school within the Coweta County School System in August 2000, as a result of a collaborative partnership between the school system, West Central Technical College and local business and industries in Coweta County. The campus serves students from Coweta County’s three high schools, and serves as West Central Technical College’s Coweta Campus.
