Ryan O’Hara has been named president of TV Guide Channel, a newly created position at Gemstar-TV Guide International Inc., officials said Monday.
O’Hara had been serving as president of TVG Network, Gemstar’s-TV Guide’s interactive horse-racing network.
In his new post as head of TV Guide Channel, O’Hara will oversee all aspects -- programming, marketing, ad sales, operations, business affairs and finance -- for the on-screen-guide network and TV Guide Spot, the company’s new on-demand service.
During his tenure at TVG -- a stint that started in 2004 -- O’Hara increased its revenue more than 37% in 2004 and nearly 42% in the first six months of this year, while its distribution has increased 26% since he joined the network.
O’Hara will continue to oversee TVG until his successor is named.
