Odyssey Taps Industry Vet Perris
Odyssey Network has named Alan Perris senior vice president of programming,
president and CEO Margaret Loesch announced.
Perris, who will be based at the network's Los Angeles headquarters, has
oversight responsibilities for all areas of programming, including development,
acquisitions, administration, scheduling and strategies. He will report directly
to Loesch. Sidney Iwanter, vice president of original productions, will continue
to supervise scripted original programs, reporting to Perris.
Perris joins Odyssey with a diverse resume, having served as senior vice
president of programming for the syndication arms of Warner Bros. and Columbia
Tri-Star Television Distribution and headed three Florida television
stations.
At Telepictures, Warner's first-run arm, Perris was responsible for the
development and supervision of new and current programming, pilot production and
research.
From 1992 through 1996, Perris launched CTTD's first-run programming
department. He was responsible for supervising existing programming and
developing new shows, including the launch of Ricki Lake and PBS'
Dragon Tales.
Previously, Perris was president and general manager of CBS affiliate WTVJ
and ABC affiliate WPLG, both in Miami, as well as CBS affiliate WJXT in
Jacksonville, Fla.
