OLN Aborts Everest Climb
Outdoor Life Network's best-laid plans for live coverage of people and
mountain -- Mt. Everest being the latter -- went awry Thursday.
The channel postponed the much-ballyhooed finale of its Global Extremes
series, where a team was scheduled to make an attempt at Mt. Everest with
live cameras following the climb.
In a statement attributed to CEO Roger Williams, the attempt was delayed "due
to unforeseeable complications." The statement did not elaborate.
"We will provide updated programming information as soon as we have
confirmation of date and time," the statement concluded.
OLN's live coverage was scheduled to start in midafternoon and run past
midnight, with Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc. as lead sponsor.
