PayPal to Handle Bravo’s 'Top Chef’ Purchases

If you must own the apron seen on Top Chef, then Bravo and Internet billing company PayPal can make it easy for you to tie it on.

Bravo senior vice president of marketing and brand strategy Jason Klarman said the network is capitalizing on PayPal Mobile, the Internet company’s new text message-based service, to allow viewers to purchase products from Top Chef, like aprons or kitchen towels, beginning with the show’s April 12 episode.

During the show, viewers will see an on-screen prompt detailing which products are available for purchase. They will then be able to buy these items, using the text message feature on their cell phones.

Viewers with an active PayPal account can register their mobile telephone numbers before using the Text to Buy service to purchase items.

This new feature will coincide with the launch of the “Top Chef” online store on BravoTV.com

The PayPal feature also follows on the heels of Bravo’s offer to send viewers SMS text messages during Top Chef episodes from various characters appearing on screen.

“Text to Buy gives our passionate viewers yet another way to connect to their favorite Bravo shows,” Klarman said. “We continue to look for new ways to engage, activate and serve their insatiable appetite for being on the forefront of what’s next.”
