In a company first, Discovery on Demand is partnering with cable operators to offer a full season of premieres for a series.
This summer, each premiere episode of the new Planet Green series The Fabulous Beekman Boys will debut first on on demand.
"Having been one of the first cable-network groups to launch VOD, it's rewarding to witness the incredible value and viewer loyalty that our Discovery on Demand product has created for our affiliate partners," Rebecca Glashow, senior vice president of Digital Media Distribution, said in a statement. "Now, with our first-ever full season of premieres on VOD, plus select debuts of fan favorites Whale Wars and 'Shark Week,' we are proud to give subscribers even more reasons to feel satisfied with their cable services."
Season three of Animal Planet's Whale Wars debuts on Discovery on Demand Premiere on Thursday, May 27, ahead of the network premiere on Friday, June 4 at 9 p.m. Subsequent episodes are available on demand the day after network premiere.
Planet Green's The Fabulous Beekman Boys will make its Discovery on Demand series premiere on Friday, June 9, before the network premiere on Wednesday, June 16, at 9 p.m.. Subsequent episodes premiere on-demand on Tuesdays and on the network on Wednesdays at 9 p.m.

Discovery Channel's "Shark Week," cable's longest-running event, returns in August. Discovery on Demand will offer next-day availability of select premieres and a robust selection of favorites from years past.
