Plex Overhauls Roku App
Plex, maker of a media center platform that lets users access their stored digital media on TVs and mobile devices, has introduced a freshened up version of its app for Roku devices that shares the look and feel of the interface it offers on Xbox and PlayStation consoles and TV clients.
The company said the new, faster release is available as a Plex Pass preview private Roku channel. The new version for Roku currently supports video and music playback, with support for photos and playlists “coming soon.”
Plex announced on its blog that it currently supports the Roku 1/2/3, Roku Streaming Stick and Roku-powered smart TVs. Customers who have already purchases the Plex app will automatically get the updated app following the preview period.
