SíTV Sets 'Not So Foreign' Independent Film Block
Los Angeles — English-language, Latino network Sí TV will debut a two-hour showcase for independent and multicultural filmmakers, beginning April 3.
“Not-So-Foreign Filmmakers Showcase” will not only present films and shorts, but its wraparounds will serve as mini-movies encapsulating each installment with a singular theme, said the network.
To that end, cheeky host Joe Hernández-Kolski will interview guests in unusual settings — from playing Battleship against Jay Hernandez (Crazy Beautiful) to dancing salsa with Erika Christensen (Swimfan) to playing a drinking game with Rick Gonzalez (Old School).
The showcase's first episode will center on Robert Rodriguez's first short, Bedhead, which he made in college. During the show, Rodriguez (Caught in the Crossfire) will receive an award from SíTV, and Brittany Murphy and Rosario Dawson will expound upon the independent Latino movement and his accomplishments.
