RCN Launches Digital Simulcast in ‘Big Apple’

published RCN Corp. launched a digital simulcast of its expanded-basic service in New York Monday.
The MSO said subscribers with digital set-tops can now view all of their channels in full digital, with improved signal quality.
RCN added that subscribers with digital boxes will automatically receive the upgrade.
“Congress has ruled that all TV broadcasts be digital by early 2009,” RCN senior vice president and general manager P.K. Ramani said in a prepared statement. “This upgrade is one of RCN's first steps in providing an all-digital platform to its customers.”
