Rebecca Scilingo
TITLE: Director, Network Engineering, Comcast
WHY WE'RE WATCHING: Comcast made VOD its advanced product of choice, making more than 3,000 shows available in 2004. That number is expected to jump to 4,000 this year and prompt 1 billion downloads. Scilingo, involved with the development and deployment of Comcast On Demand since 2001, is in the middle of it all.
SCORE ON 2004: “Last year, we were able to continue to deploy our on-demand service and begin offering a new Comcast On-Screen Program Guide, designed to let customers find what they want to watch quickly and easily. My role has been to coordinate the development process working with marketing, customer service, engineering and our vendors to ensure the both VOD and the on-screen program guide work and provide a great experience.”
WHAT'S NEXT: “Enhancing the customer experience with new products continues to be technologically stimulating. It's exciting to be part of the process that is changing the way people watch TV.”
DRIVE IN 2005: “In addition to expanding our content and enhancing the features of our user interfaces, we will also look to an application that will combine our services across video, data and voice, allowing customers a seamless Comcast experience.”
EXECUTIVE EVOLUTION: “My job enables me to work with really talented men and women from various departments within Comcast and throughout the industry. I have worked directly for Steve Heeb, vice president of business development, and Mark Hess, senior vice president of digital television, who have been mentors to me and have always pushed me to do my best.”
AT HOME, AT PLAY: “I spend as much time possible with my six-year-old daughter and three-year-old son, instilling values that I hope will guide them down a happy and successful life.”
