Roku Makes a French Connection

Roku has broadened its international horizons by launching its streaming platform in France, starting with three models – the Roku Streaming Stick (pictured), Roku 2 and the Roku 3.  

Roku has yet to introduce its newest model, the 4K-capable Roku 4, in France.

For the supported models, Roku’s platform for France will start off with 1,500-plus streaming channels/apps, including Netflix, Google Play, Spotify, YouTube,  and France 24, with local content from partners such as LA VOD videofutur, Deezer, and ARTE joining the mix  “soon.”

In France, Roku is selling the initial set of models in FNAC stores and online at www.fnac.com. There, the Roku Streaming Stick sells for €54.99 ($62.45), while the Roku 2 goes for €89.99 ($102.19), and the Roku 3 fetches € 119.99 ($136.26).

Roku also sells streaming devices in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., the Republic of Ireland and Mexico.

At last check, Roku said it has 7.5 million active Roku user accounts worldwide, and that its platform streamed 3 billion hours in 2014. It has already streamed 2.5 billion hours during the first half of 2015.
