S-A Overlay to More Time Warner Systems
Time Warner Cable has added six national-division systems to the list of those deploying Scientific-Atlanta Inc.’s overlay technology.
The six new systems, along with the three that were added earlier this year, are all controlled by a master headend in Denver using S-A’s “Regional Control System” technology.
The new overlay sites are Houma and La Place, La.; Cape Coral and Lake City, Fla.; Dothan, Ala.; and Fort Benning, Ga. They joined St. Augustine, Fla.; Terre Haute, Ind.; and Clarksburg, W. Va.
"S-A's overlay system enables us to quickly and easily consolidate and streamline the headend operation of nine national-division systems, while operating the remote sites 'lights-out' to reduce our personnel requirements in these locations," Time Warner national-division vice president of engineering Dick Amell said in a prepared statement.
"Scientific-Atlanta's RCS technology made our overlay rollout possible and delivers opportunities for both [capital-expenditure] and [operating-expenditure] savings, while allowing the national division to offer enhanced HD and [digital-video-recorder] services to our subscribers," he added.
