As more networks' plans to commemorate the anniversary of the Sept. 11
terrorist attacks take shape, the Scripps Networks has elected to go dark for 90
minutes that day.
A company spokesman said that all four of its cable channels-HGTV, Food
Network, DIY: Do It Yourself and Fine Living-will go off the air from 8:30 p.m.
to 10 a.m. on Sept. 11.
'The executive committee decided that with national attention focused on the
ceremonies in New York City that it would be inappropriate to continue business
as usual at that time,' said a Scripps spokeswoman.
In the 24 hours immediately following the tragic events last Sept. 11, the
Scripps' cable channel were dark.
