SeaChange International has promoted longtime executive Steve Davi to the position of chief technology officer.
Davi, who joined SeaChange in November 1997, most recently was senior vice president of advanced technologies, where he was responsible for the company's overall software technology architecture.
SeaChange has been sharpening its focus on software. Last week the company announced plans to sell its declining broadcast servers and storage business -- to be named XOR Media -- to a group of private investors.
At the same time, the executive ranks at SeaChange have been in flux. Interim CEO Raghu Rau, a member of SeaChange's board and a strategic advisor specializing in marketing, business strategy and venture capital for high-technology companies, took over chief executive duties in November 2011 after SeaChange founder, chairman and CEO Bill Styslinger left the company.
Other execs have departed SeaChange since then, including president Yvette Kanouff -- now executive VP of engineering for software design at Cablevision Systems -- and chief financial officer Kevin Bisson.
Davi, in his tenure at SeaChange, also has run the company's back-office business unit. When first joining SeaChange, he helped architect the Axiom BackOffice product for VOD and managed the software team that delivered SeaChange's first VOD product, first recording system deployment and first ads in a VOD deployment.
Before joining SeaChange, Davi served from September 1990 to November 1997 in various engineering and managerial positions at Banyan Systems, a network operating system software company that specialized in enterprise scale directory and messaging products. Prior to Banyan, he worked in the networking division of Data General from June 1985 to September 1990.
