Second Time’s A Charm For CMT’s ‘Redneck Wedding’
CMT officials call My Big Redneck Wedding the reality series that “gives a whole new meaning to ‘for better or worse,’” and it’s headed back down the aisle in October when the network debuts the first of eight half-hour episodes.
Tom Arnold, no stranger to the alter himself (twice remarried since his divorce from comedienne Roseanne Barr in 1994), will host the show that searches the country to find “the most down-home country couples” and document their “over-the-top journey down the aisle.”
“My Big Redneck Wedding and host Tom Arnold have really grabbed the hearts and the imaginations of the CMT audience,” Bob Kusbit, head of development for CMT, said in a statement. “The show continues to get more outrageous each week and Tom’s hilarious commentary highlights how much these couples truly love each other.”
According to a press release announcing the second-season renewal, Redneck Wedding couples have taken the term “redneck” to a whole new level this season with receptions complete with mud bogging, redneck games, monster trucks and camouflage lingerie-filled wedding nights.
The first iteration of the series debuted in January and “ranks as one of the network’s top-rated series," CMT officials said.
My Big Redneck Wedding is produced by Pink Sneakers Productions. Kusbit and Lewis Bogach serve as executive producers for CMT. The network, a unit of Viacom’s MTV Networks, is available in more than 87 million U.S. households.
